Job Description

We are seeking a Surgery - Cardiovascular & Thoracic Nurse Practitioner for a 130-day locum tenens assignment in Colorado, starting Apr 6, 2026. The schedule includes 8-hour days, five days per week, with 7-10 call days per month involving 24-hour call, rounding, consultations, and time in the floor OR.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Function independently to deliver high-quality, patient-centric care in collaboration with the healthcare team
  • Provide care in hospital, clinic, and through telehealth modalities (telephone, video, secure email) as appropriate
  • Gather patient and collateral history, perform physical exams, and review prior records and ancillary data
  • Develop, implement, and monitor treatment plans utilizing current medical knowledge and sound judgment
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure coordinated care
  • Provide patient and family education and counseling to support treatment and discharge plans
  • Collaborate with physicians, leadership, and medical staff for safe and compliant patient care
  • Document care in accordance with regulatory and care site standards
  • Assist collaborating physicians with patient management in the hospital setting, consistent with site policies and scope of practice
  • Float to other departments within competency as required by business needs
  • Maintain regular attendance for on-site work during scheduled business hours or shifts
  • May be placed on-call during scheduled shifts as needed

Additional Information
  • Active Colorado NP license required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends as required by the position
