Job Description

We are seeking a Physician Assistant - Surgery - Cardiovascular & Thoracic for an exciting 126-day assignment with our client in Indiana. Starting Mar 30, 2026, this role involves 7p-7a shifts focusing on daily inpatient rounds, new consults, and patient discharges, managing an average of 10-15 patients within a total census of 20-30.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform daily rounding on all inpatients, including those in ICU and stepdown units.
  • Conduct new patient consults and manage patient discharges.
  • Manage an average daily patient load of 10-15, with a total census typically ranging from 20-30 patients.
  • Address critical care needs for cardiac cases including adult cardiac surgeries (CAB, valves, aortic dissections), high-acuity patients, and very sick individuals.
  • Handle thoracic surgeries, primarily robotic procedures but also VATs and thoracotomies, covering all thoracic surgeries except esophageal procedures (e.g., lobectomies, wedge resections, decortications, mediastinal mass).
  • Manage open vascular surgeries, such as CEA, AAA, and leg revascularizations.
  • Provide care for heart failure patients, including those with LVAD, ECMO, and Impella devices.
  • Focus strictly on critical care; this role does not include first assist duties.
