Job Description

Our client in New Hampshire is seeking a skilled Physician Assistant specializing in Surgery - Cardiovascular & Thoracic for a 63-day assignment starting May 11, 2026. This role involves comprehensive patient care from preoperative assessments and first assisting in complex cardiovascular and thoracic surgeries to meticulous postoperative management. The schedule includes 10-hour shifts along with 24-hour weekend call responsibilities.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Preoperative Care:
  • Conduct H&Ps, order and interpret diagnostics, obtain consents, and prepare patients for surgery.
  • Intraoperative First Assist:
  • Assist in CABG, valve repairs/replacements, thoracic procedures (e.g., lobectomy, aneurysm repair), perform vein/artery harvesting, control hemostasis, close wounds, and manage chest tubes.
  • Postoperative Management:
  • Round in ICU/step-down units, manage drains/wounds, monitor for complications, educate patients, and coordinate discharges.


Additional Information

  • EMR: Cerner
  • Type of cases: Full spectrum CVT coverage, including 100% required experience with endovascular vein harvesting and first assist for any surgical cases taken on by the program.
