Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant for a 60-day locum tenens assignment in Virginia, starting Jan 19, 2026. This role offers a Monday through Friday schedule, day shifts, and includes regular call responsibilities as part of a 1:4 rotation. The ideal candidate will bring 3-4 years of first assist experience in cardiothoracic surgery and hold current ACLS certification.

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 am–4:00 pm; typical work week 7:00 am–4:30 pm; one night of call per week and one weekend per month, with increased call coverage possible during vacations or staffing gaps

Responsibilities and Duties
  • First assist on cardiothoracic surgery cases
  • Provide perioperative and postoperative patient care within the surgical team
  • Participate in daily rounds and patient assessments
  • Manage clinical documentation related to patient care
  • Participate in 1:4 night and weekend call rotation as required

Additional Information
  • 3-4 years of cardiothoracic surgery first assist experience required
  • Current Virginia license required
  • ACLS certification required
  • Board certification in Cardiothoracic Surgery required
