Job Description

We are seeking an Acute Care Critical Care Nurse Practitioner for a 48-day locum tenens assignment in Maryland. This full-time position starts on Jan 5, 2026, and involves night shifts, three nights per week, providing advanced post-operative and critical care support in a CVS-ICU alongside other advanced practice providers. The role focuses on caring for transplant, ECMO, LVAD, bypass, and surgical patients in a high-acuity environment.

  • Schedule: Nights, 6PM–6AM plus 1 hour for sign-out/shift transition; full-time, 3 nights per week (rotating); no more than 5 shifts in a row; no call


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide advanced post-operative care for transplant, ECMO, LVAD, bypass, and other surgical patients
  • Manage 4–6 patients per night in an ICU setting, typically about 4 patients per provider
  • Perform invasive procedures including central line placement, arterial line placement, chest tube removal, and pacer wire removal
  • Deliver comprehensive cardiac critical care in collaboration with at least one other advanced practice provider on each shift
  • Ensure effective shift transition with required sign-out procedures


Additional Information

  • Must hold a valid Maryland license and be acute care trained
  • Required certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Critical Care Medicine board certification, Acute Care Clinical Nurse Specialist - Adult Gerontology (ACCNS-AG), or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (ACNP-BC)
  • EMR system: Epic
  • This position does not involve operating room duties or on-call responsibilities
