Responsibilities and Duties
Provide post-operative care for cardiothoracic surgery patients in the ICU
Perform procedures including Central line and Arterial line insertion, Swan-Ganz catheterization, chest tube removal and insertion, and pacer wire removal (0–4 procedures per day)
Manage a case load of 4–12 patients per shift, with a maximum of 4 ICU-level patients
Collaborate with CVOR advanced practice providers and intensivist ICU co-manager
Conduct thorough patient assessments and implement care plans
Participate in morning sign-out at the end of each shift
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
Ensure adherence to clinical protocols and safety standards
Additional Information
Active Nurse Practitioner license required for Maryland
Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (ACNP-BC), Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification - Adult Gerontology (ACNPC-AG), and Cardiothoracic Surgery board certifications required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications required
Non-surgical role; no operating room responsibilities
Prior experience managing post-operative CT surgery or critical care patients strongly preferred
