Job Description

Our client is actively seeking a skilled Critical Care Medicine Nurse Practitioner for an engaging 30-day locum tenens assignment in Maryland, commencing Jul 1, 2026. This vital role entails providing independent 12-hour night ICU coverage, where you will manage a diverse mixed intensive care unit patient population, including both medical and surgical cases. The position requires proficiency in essential procedures, contributing significantly to patient care during night shifts.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide 12-hour independent night ICU coverage.
  • Manage a mixed ICU, caring for both medical and surgical patients such as those with carotids, aneurysms, breast flaps, and sick general surgery conditions.
  • Maintain an average census of 5 patients, with potential for up to 10 on the high end.
  • Consult with the step-down unit for patient care; direct management of patients on this unit is not required.
  • Work as the sole Advanced Practice Provider on the unit, with an on-call Physician generally not required to return to the hospital at night.
  • Perform A-line and C-line procedures.
  • Experience with intubation and chest tubes is a plus, though not required as anesthesia is in-house at night.
