Job Description

We are seeking an Acute Care Critical Care Nurse Practitioner for a 84-day locum tenens assignment in Virginia. This opportunity begins on Apr 6, 2026, and requires flexibility to cover both day and night shifts in a Neuro/Surgical/Medical ICU with a focus on neurocritical care. The assignment involves working 7-14 shifts per month, with 12-hour shifts and independent practice alongside an Intensivist available for support.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide care for patients in an ICU, with APP covering beds in one unit
  • Manage neuro, surgical, and medical ICU cases, with a strong emphasis on neurocritical care
  • Work independently with Intensivist support (in-house during hours, on-call backup otherwise)
  • Perform patient assessments, develop care plans, and implement critical interventions
  • Respond to emergencies and provide advanced life support as needed
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes


Additional Information

  • Must hold a valid Nurse Practitioner license in Virginia
  • Required board certifications: Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (ACNP-BC) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification - Adult Gerontology (ACNPC-AG)
  • Required certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Emergency Neurological Life Support (ENLS)
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a high-acuity ICU environment
  • Experience in neurocritical care strongly preferred
