Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Critical Care Nurse Practitioner for a locum tenens opportunity in Virginia. This assignment begins on Apr 6, 2026, with a duration of 84 days and includes 7-14 night shifts per month from 6p to 6a in a 28-bed medical/surgical ICU. The ideal candidate must work independently with intensivist support available on-call overnight and demonstrate proficiency in intubations, central lines, and arterial lines.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Provide independent overnight care in a 28-bed medical/surgical ICU
  • Collaborate with an intensivist who is on-call from home overnight
  • Perform A and C lines, intubations, central lines, and arterial lines
  • Maintain detailed and accurate case logs, demonstrating a minimum of 15 intubations, 15 central lines, and 15 arterial lines within the past 12 months
  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to critically ill patients
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant clinical protocols and safety standards

Additional Information
  • Current Virginia Nurse Practitioner license required
  • Board certifications required: Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (ACNP-BC) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification - Adult Gerontology (ACNPC-AG)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Emergency Neurological Life Support (ENLS) certifications required
  • Must provide case logs as outlined above
