Job Description

Our client in Maryland is seeking a Critical Care Medicine Physician Assistant for a 36-day assignment starting May 25, 2026. This night shift role, from 6 PM to 6 AM plus sign-out, involves covering an ICU with no call responsibilities. The Physician Assistant will focus on post-operative cardiac care patients, performing procedures like central line placement, arterial line placement, chest tube removal, and pacer wire removal, working alongside at least one other Advanced Practice Provider.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Covering nights from 6 PM to 6 AM, including an hour for sign-out and shift transition.
  • Work 13-hour shifts with no call schedule.
  • Collaborate with at least one other Advanced Practice Provider; ideally three APPs cover nights together.
  • Manage patients in an an ICU, with approximately 4 patients per provider.
  • Provide post-operative cardiac care for transplant, EMCO, LVAD, bypass, and surgical patients.
  • Perform invasive procedures including central line placement, arterial line placement, chest tube removal, and pacer wire removal.


Additional Information

  • Board Certification in Critical Care Medicine is required.
  • EMR system used is Epic.
