Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Critical Care Physician Assistant for a 84-day locum tenens assignment in Virginia. Starting Apr 6, 2026, this role offers 7-14 night shifts per month from 6p-6a in a medical/surgical ICU. The ideal candidate is proficient with intubations, central lines, and arterial lines, and can work independently with intensivist back-up available.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide independent night coverage in a 28-bed medical/surgical ICU
  • Collaborate with an intensivist who is on-call from home overnight
  • Perform A and C lines, intubations, central lines, and arterial lines
  • Manage acutely ill patients and respond to emergent situations
  • Maintain accurate documentation and case logs
  • Deliver high-quality patient care in accordance with facility protocols


Additional Information

  • Must be licensed as a Physician Assistant in Virginia
  • Must provide case logs showing at least 15 intubations, 15 central lines, and 15 arterial lines within the past 12 months
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Emergency Neurological Life Support (ENLS) certifications required
  • Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (ACNP-BC) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification - Adult Gerontology (ACNPC-AG) required
