Locum Tenens Physician Assistant - Emergency Medicine Needed in CA

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant for a 100-day locum tenens assignment in California, beginning on Sep 1, 2025. This critical role involves managing low-acuity patients, including ankle sprains, stitches, and major joint injuries, with an expectation to handle 3-4 patients per hour during night shifts from 11 PM to 9 AM. The successful candidate will also perform neonatal and pediatric assessments and complex laceration repairs, alongside regular duties in the emergency department.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Manage 3-4 patients per hour with low acuity cases including ankle sprains, stitches, and injuries to major joints.
• Perform complex laceration repairs efficiently.
• Conduct neonatal and pediatric assessments from the first day of life.
• Interpret and adhere to x-ray guidelines to ensure appropriate usage.
• Work in both a fast-track urgent care environment and the regular emergency department.
• Utilize Epic EMR system to document patient interactions and treatment plans.

Additional Information

• Candidates must hold a valid California Physician Assistant license.
• Minimum of 3 years of emergency department experience required, or 2 years in a fast-track urgent care setting combined with ED experience.
• Possession or ability to obtain an LA firecard is necessary.
