Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant for a 4-day locum tenens assignment in South Dakota. This opportunity begins on Jan 1, 2026, with 24-hour shifts and requires the provider to serve as the sole practitioner in the emergency department. Candidates with rural emergency department and sole provider experience are preferred.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Serve as the sole provider in the emergency department
  • Round on patients in the ED
  • Stabilize patients for transfer as needed

Additional Information
  • South Dakota license required
  • Board certifications accepted: Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Urgent Care
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications required
  • Experience in rural ED and as a sole provider is preferred
  • Utilizes an EMR system other than Aspen
