Job Description

We are seeking a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner for a 120-day locum tenens assignment in California, starting Jan 5, 2026. This role features day shifts, Monday through Friday, with an 8a-5p schedule and a manageable patient load of three per hour in 20-minute time slots. The assignment requires a commitment to the full six-month term.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide primary care services to patients in a family practice setting
  • Manage a patient load of three per hour, adhering to 20-minute appointment slots
  • Conduct telehealth visits as scheduled
  • Perform routine procedures including pap smears and contraceptive counseling (preferred)
  • Complete required administrative tasks following patient visits
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality care


Additional Information

  • Active California NP license required
  • Must be nationally certified as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Board certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine required
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience preferred
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Previous successful assignment through Barton Associates is mandatory
  • Experience with Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) preferred
  • Provider must be comfortable with the provided scheduling template and pace
  • Credentialing can be completed in 20-30 days for providers with a clean background
