 Barton Associates is seeking a Family Practice Nurse Practitioner for a 30-day locum tenens assignment at a correctional facility in Massachusetts. Starting on 06/16/2025, this position involves providing medical care to inmates, with a focus on addiction medicine and some prenatal care consultation. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 3 PM, with rounds beginning at 7:30 AM. Responsibilities include managing a patient load of 20-30 inmates daily, reviewing medical issues, collaborating with dental teams, and addressing opioid use disorders. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with administrative tasks, email communication, and occasional urgent care needs. Responsibilities and Duties:

• Conduct daily rounds on 20-30 patients, starting at 7:30 AM

• Provide medical care for inmates, focusing on detox and addiction medicine

• Review and address medical issues for patients in the medical unit

• Collaborate with dental teams to clear patients for extractions

• Manage administrative tasks, including timely email responses

• Provide occasional urgent care for sick patients

• Consult on prenatal care cases as needed

• Utilize ERMA electronic medical record system

• Maintain accurate and timely medical records

• Ensure compliance with facility policies and procedures

• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and care planning


Additional Information:

• Must be a licensed Family Practice Nurse Practitioner

• Active Massachusetts NP license required

• Experience in addiction medicine and opioid use disorder treatment preferred

• Familiarity with basic prenatal care beneficial

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills essential

• Ability to work independently in a correctional setting
