Job Description

We are seeking a Family Practice Physician Assistant for a 120-day assignment in North Carolina, starting Mar 9, 2026. The Physician Assistant will be integral to delivering primary care for children and adults, gynecological and prenatal care, and various screenings and immunizations. The schedule primarily involves Monday through Friday shifts, focusing on managing routine medical conditions, performing thorough patient histories, and conducting physical examinations.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide primary care for children and adults, including gynecological and prenatal care.
  • Conduct various screenings and administer immunizations (seasonal, routine, and travel vaccines).
  • Deliver maternal health, mother-baby home visiting, and farmworker health services.
  • Engage in case management, outreach, behavioral health, communicable disease, and family planning.
  • Perform thorough patient histories and physical examinations.
  • Manage routine medical conditions by performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ordering medications, and maintaining healthcare plans.
  • Educate patients and families on health maintenance, preventive medicine, and illness care.
  • Coordinate care with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to implement comprehensive patient care plans.
  • Execute clinical functions according to established medical protocols and guidelines.
  • Apply independent judgment to determine appropriate courses of action within the legal scope of practice.


Additional Information

  • EMR System: Athenahealth
  • Schedule: 8 am - 4:45 pm, Monday through Friday.
  • Licensure: Must be licensed as a Physician Assistant by the NC Medical Board or approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner by the NC Board of Nursing/Medical Board.
  • Skills: Possess strong interviewing techniques, knowledge of general medicine and disease states, and the ability to detect abnormalities and accurately record clinical findings.
  • Training: Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program is required.
  • Supervision: Practice in strict collaboration with a supervising physician, who holds ultimate responsibility for medical acts and must be immediately available for consultation.
  • Guidance: Receive guidance as needed during work processes, with situations beyond the provider's scope reported or referred.
