Responsibilities and Duties
Provide direct primary care (50%–60% clinical time) including diagnosis, treatment, preventive care, chronic disease management, lab and radiology interpretation, and referrals
Supervise and mentor 2–4 Nurse Practitioners, offering clinical guidance, chart reviews, case consultation, peer review, and feedback
Act as preceptor for new Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants, overseeing onboarding and performance evaluation
Design, implement, and monitor clinical quality improvement activities such as peer review, chart audits, and QA/CQI programs
Maintain and update clinical policies, procedures, and protocols in alignment with tribal, state, and federal regulations
Participate in strategic planning, program expansion, and grant development or reporting
Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and credentialing of new clinical staff; manage provider scheduling, supervision, and performance appraisals
Ensure compliance with tribal, state, federal, and accreditation requirements; lead in accreditation preparation processes
Act as clinic liaison with external partners including local hospitals, health departments, tribal council, and grant agencies
Provide comprehensive clinical care at a primary care level with a multidisciplinary approach
Develop and implement standards of care, standing orders, and policies to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective practice
Collaborate with staff to develop educational programs for the practice
Participate in committees and staff meetings to promote integrated clinical practice and optimal patient flow
Oversee vaccines for children program, lab services, and maintenance of CLIA certification
Additional Information
Tribal health experience highly desired; preference given to candidates with this background
Experience supervising Nurse Practitioners required; prior medical director experience is a plus
Must have outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Strong time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and RPMS software is essential
Required certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and DEA
Board Certification in Family Medicine required
Experience serving underserved populations is strongly preferred
