Job Description

 We are seeking a skilled Gastroenterologist for a 48-day locum tenens assignment at a hospital in Massachusetts. Starting on 07/01/2025, this opportunity offers a flexible schedule, typically 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, four days a week, Monday through Friday. The ideal candidate will be comfortable performing general GI procedures, including colonoscopies, endoscopies, therapeutic EGDs, and ERCP. This role involves both operating days and office days, with a mix of inpatient and outpatient care. The gastroenterologist will be responsible for providing comprehensive GI care, including procedures and outpatient clinic visits, with flexibility in scheduling between procedural and office work.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Perform general gastroenterology procedures, including colonoscopies and endoscopies

• Conduct therapeutic EGDs and ERCPs

• Provide outpatient clinic consultations and follow-ups

• Manage inpatient gastroenterology cases as needed

• Utilize Athenahealth and Meditech Advance electronic health record systems

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for comprehensive patient care

• Maintain accurate and timely medical records

• Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures

• Provide patient education on gastrointestinal health and disease prevention

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to gastroenterology care

• Stay updated on the latest gastroenterology practices and technologies

• Adapt to various clinical scenarios in both inpatient and outpatient settings


Additional Information:

• Massachusetts state medical license required

• Experience in ERCP procedures preferred

• Proficiency in Athenahealth and Meditech Advance EHR systems beneficial
