Job Description

We are seeking a board-certified Gastroenterologist for a 113-week locum tenens assignment in Nebraska, starting Nov 3, 2025. This role features inpatient consult service with day shifts Monday through Friday, scheduled non-advanced endoscopy, and rotating night and weekend call coverage. The ideal candidate has experience in both inpatient and outpatient GI care, is comfortable performing standard endoscopic procedures, and has prior academic or teaching hospital experience, as teaching and supervision of GI fellows are required.

  • Schedule: Inpatient general GI consult service, Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm; night call during weekdays (5pm–7am); 24-hour weekend call starting Friday 5pm through Monday 7am; assignment includes 16 weeks of scheduled service with specific dates provided per rotation

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Perform inpatient GI consults and scheduled non-advanced endoscopic procedures
  • Provide urgent or emergent endoscopy for GI bleeds, obstructions, or foreign body removal
  • Round on patients and update care plans with the multidisciplinary care team
  • Teach and supervise GI fellows during consults and procedures
  • Document all patient care and procedures accurately in the EMR
  • Communicate with multidisciplinary teams for continuity of care
  • Cover assigned weekday, weekend, and evening call shifts as scheduled

Additional Information
  • Board certification in Gastroenterology required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings preferred
  • Previous work in an academic or teaching hospital strongly preferred
