Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7am–5pm (often until 6pm with fellows); night call and 24-hour weekend call from Friday 5pm to Monday 7am as scheduled
Responsibilities and Duties
Perform inpatient GI consults and scheduled non-advanced endoscopic procedures
Provide urgent or emergent endoscopy for GI bleeds, obstructions, or foreign body removal
Round on patients and update care plans with the care team between cases
Teach and supervise GI fellows and residents during consults and procedures
Document all patient care and procedures accurately in the EMR
Communicate with multidisciplinary teams for continuity of care
Cover assigned weekday, weekend, and evening call shifts
Additional Information
Board certification in Gastroenterology required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Experience in an academic or teaching hospital setting strongly preferred
Previous inpatient experience and proficiency with standard endoscopic procedures expected
Collaborative team environment, working with GI fellows and internal medicine residents
