Job Description

 We are seeking a skilled Gastroenterologist for a locum tenens position in West Virginia. This 28-day assignment at a Hospital requires coverage for 7-10 days per month, including 24-hour call and rounding, starting from 09/22/2025. The physician will be responsible for rounding on the inpatient unit, performing scopes, endoscopies, and EUS/ERCP procedures. Job Responsibilities and Duties:

• Perform daily rounds on inpatient gastroenterology unit

• Conduct various endoscopic procedures including colonoscopies and upper endoscopies

• Perform advanced procedures such as EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasound) and ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography)

• Provide 24-hour on-call coverage for gastroenterology emergencies

• Diagnose and treat a wide range of gastrointestinal disorders

• Interpret results from diagnostic tests and imaging studies

• Develop and implement treatment plans for patients

• Collaborate with nursing staff, technicians, and other healthcare professionals

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Epic electronic health record system

• Communicate effectively with patients and their families about procedures and care plans

• Adhere to all hospital protocols and safety standards

• Participate in quality improvement initiatives as needed


Additional Information:

• Must be licensed in West Virginia

• Board certification in Gastroenterology required

• Experience with Epic electronic health record system preferred

• Strong clinical skills in both general and advanced gastroenterology procedures essential

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hospital environment

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required

• Flexibility to work 24-hour shifts and provide on-call coverage
