Job Description

Our client in New York is seeking a General Surgery Nurse Practitioner for a 120-day assignment starting Mar 23, 2026. This role offers a flexible schedule of either five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts weekly. The position will primarily involve first assisting in the operating room for a variety of surgical cases, including robotics and general surgeries, with potential for medical surgical floor coverage that includes daily rounding and patient management.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide surgical first assist support in the operating room.
  • Perform medical surgical floor coverage, including daily rounding, progress notes, order management, admissions, discharges, and consults.
  • Manage a diverse patient population, primarily involving General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedic cases.
  • Participate in a wide range of surgical procedures, such as robotics (Da Vinci), OB (c-sections), lumpectomies, hernias, laparoscopy, gallbladder, and appendix surgeries.
  • Cover weekend rounding and call nights as needed, with potential for heavier call shifts in early April due to vacation schedules.
