Job Description

Our client in NY is actively seeking a skilled Surgery - General Nurse Practitioner for a 60-day assignment starting Aug 24, 2026. This vital role involves a combination of surgical first assist in the operating room and surgical floor coverage, managing patient treatment, performing rounds, and handling various surgical procedures during day shifts with weekday and weekend call responsibilities.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide comprehensive care to hospitalized patients, collaborating with physicians and healthcare teams.
  • Manage patient treatment plans and ensure high-quality care delivery.
  • Perform duties as a Surgical First Assist in the operating room.
  • Conduct medical surgical floor coverage, including patient rounding and progress notes.
  • Oversee patient orders, discharges, and consults.
  • Execute surgical tasks such as cauterizing wounds and vessels, placing clamps and sutures, and closing skin with adhesives, sutures, or staples.
  • Assist with patient suction, drainage, and irrigation.
  • Perform hemostasis to control bleeding.
  • Position and immobilize patients on the operating table.
  • Work primarily with General Surgery, OB/GYN, and Orthopedic patients.
