Job Description

We are seeking a Surgery Physician Assistant with expertise in both general and orthopedic surgical first assist cases for a locum tenens assignment in California. This opportunity starts Jan 5, 2026, is 40 days in length, and features a midday shift from 12:00pm to 8:30pm, Monday through Friday. All duties are focused in the operating room with no inpatient rounding.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Serve as first assist in general and orthopedic surgical cases
  • Perform all duties in the operating room; no inpatient rounding required
  • Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Maintain accurate documentation within the Epic EMR


Additional Information

  • Active California license required
  • Board certification in Surgery required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Previous experience with first assisting in both general and orthopedic cases is essential
  • Familiarity with Epic EMR preferred
