We are seeking a skilled General Surgery Physician Assistant for a 16-day locum tenens assignment in New York, beginning on Sep 1, 2025. This role primarily involves first assisting in the operating room, with shifts from Monday through Friday, 7 am to 3 pm, including one night of call per week. The position demands a professional who is adept in a variety of surgical procedures including general surgery, OBGYN, and orthopedics, providing an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic clinical environment.

Job Details

• Location: New York
• Start Date: Sep 1, 2025
• LOA: 16 days
• Provider Type Needed: General Surgery Physician Assistant
• Schedule:
• Monday to Thursday, 7 am-3 pm or 7 am-5 pm
• Weekend rounding for Sep 6-7, 8 am-12 pm
• Potential for a call shift every Tuesday from 5 pm-7 am

Responsibilities and Duties

• First assisting in the operating room across various surgical procedures.
• Work collaboratively with surgical teams in OBGYN and orthopedic cases.
• Manage pre-operative and post-operative care for surgical patients.
• Support emergency procedures in trauma (Level III trauma experience necessary).
• Utilize robotic surgical systems as needed, enhancing surgical precision and recovery times.

Additional Information

• Must be board certified in General Surgery.
• Active NY license required.
• Recent experience with Epic EMR systems is essential.
• Strong skills in trauma and robotics surgery are highly preferred.
• Certifications required:
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
