Job Description

We are seeking a General Surgery Physician Assistant for a 120-day locum tenens assignment in New York starting Mar 2, 2026. This opportunity offers a choice of weekday schedules (5x8s or 4x10s), with on-call and weekend requirements primarily concentrated in early April. The assignment focuses on operating room first assist duties, floor coverage when needed, and trauma care.

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday 7am-3pm or Monday-Thursday 7am-5pm; weeknight and weekend call coverage as needed


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide first assist in the operating room for general and robotic surgery cases
  • Deliver trauma care within a trauma environment
  • Cover the floor and manage patient care as needed, primarily for extended assignments
  • Participate in weekend rounding and overnight call shifts, with heavier call in early April
  • Utilize Epic for patient documentation and workflow


Additional Information

  • Must be board certified with a current and active New York license
  • Required certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Recent experience with Epic is required
  • Must have trauma and general/robotic surgery experience; orthopedic experience is a plus
