 We are seeking a licensed General Surgeon for a 60-day locum tenens assignment at a Critical Access Hospital in Hawaii. Starting 08/05/2025, this role requires expertise in acute care general surgery procedures and clinic-based care. The physician will work either one week on/one week off or 14 days straight, with clinic hours Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm and 1:2 call coverage. Key responsibilities include performing laparoscopic cholecystectomies, appendectomies, central line placements, and other acute care general surgery procedures. This position offers a unique opportunity to provide essential surgical care in a critical access setting, with potential for assignment extension.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Perform acute care general surgery procedures

• Conduct laparoscopic cholecystectomies and appendectomies

• Place central lines and manage other critical care needs

• Provide 24/7 general surgery coverage during assigned weeks

• See patients in clinic for pre- and post-operative care

• Utilize Cerner electronic health record system

• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams

• Respond promptly to surgical emergencies

• Adhere to hospital protocols and best practices in general surgery

• Adapt to the unique challenges of a critical access hospital setting

• Participate in on-call rotations (approximately 1-2 calls per week)
