Job Description

We are seeking a General Surgeon for a 4-day assignment starting Apr 27, 2026, in New Mexico. This role involves comprehensive general surgery call coverage for ER/trauma and inpatient cases at a Trauma certified facility, focusing on a variety of adult and pediatric surgical procedures with no outpatient clinic responsibilities.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide general surgery call coverage for ER/Trauma and inpatient cases.
  • Manage 1-5 patient encounters per shift at a Trauma facility.
  • Perform general surgery procedures including adult, pediatric, and trauma cases.
  • Conduct laparoscopic surgery such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy, and hernioplasty.
  • Execute chest wall/pleural procedures and GI endoscopy (upper, lower, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy).
  • Perform chest tube insertion, central line insertion, PA catheter placement, and vascular access device insertions.
  • Handle additional pediatric procedures including intestinal atresias, biliary atresias, abdominal wall defects, umbilical hernia, diaphragmatic hernia, imperforate anus, and PDA ligation.


Additional Information

  • Board Certification in General Surgery is required.
  • Experience with Cerner EMR system.
