Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner for a locum tenens assignment in New York. This 1-week opportunity starts on Jan 2, 2026, with orientation followed by clinical work beginning Jan 5, 2026. The schedule consists of four day shifts per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. The ideal candidate will provide ambulatory sickle cell outpatient coverage and must demonstrate recent competence in chemotherapy and biotherapy prescribing.Job Details

Responsibilities and Duties
- Assess, diagnose, monitor, and manage care for patients with all types of cancer and benign or malignant tumors and diseases in an ambulatory setting
- Provide outpatient coverage for sickle cell patients
- Demonstrate competence in administering chemotherapy/biotherapy, with at least 10 administrations in the past 12 months
- Prescribe chemotherapy and biotherapy as appropriate
- Perform history and physical examinations, including pelvic exams as needed
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities within specialty scope
- Implement therapeutic interventions for specific conditions
- Perform arterial punctures and blood gas sampling
- Conduct debridement and general care for superficial wounds and minor surgical procedures
- Incise and drain superficial abscesses
- Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
- Complete death certificate protocols
- Remove central venous catheters
Additional Information
- Valid New York nurse practitioner license required
- Required board certifications: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGACNP-BC), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGPCNP-BC), Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification (ANP-BC), Family Nurse Practitioner Certification (FNP)
- Required certifications: ARC-PA accreditation, ACLS, BCLS
- Recent experience in chemotherapy/biotherapy administration is mandatory
