Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner for a locum tenens assignment in New York. This 1-week opportunity starts on Jan 2, 2026, with orientation followed by clinical work beginning Jan 5, 2026. The schedule consists of four day shifts per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. The ideal candidate will provide ambulatory sickle cell outpatient coverage and must demonstrate recent competence in chemotherapy and biotherapy prescribing.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assess, diagnose, monitor, and manage care for patients with all types of cancer and benign or malignant tumors and diseases in an ambulatory setting
  • Provide outpatient coverage for sickle cell patients
  • Demonstrate competence in administering chemotherapy/biotherapy, with at least 10 administrations in the past 12 months
  • Prescribe chemotherapy and biotherapy as appropriate
  • Perform history and physical examinations, including pelvic exams as needed
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities within specialty scope
  • Implement therapeutic interventions for specific conditions
  • Perform arterial punctures and blood gas sampling
  • Conduct debridement and general care for superficial wounds and minor surgical procedures
  • Incise and drain superficial abscesses
  • Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
  • Complete death certificate protocols
  • Remove central venous catheters

Additional Information
  • Valid New York nurse practitioner license required
  • Required board certifications: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGACNP-BC), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGPCNP-BC), Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification (ANP-BC), Family Nurse Practitioner Certification (FNP)
  • Required certifications: ARC-PA accreditation, ACLS, BCLS
  • Recent experience in chemotherapy/biotherapy administration is mandatory
