Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner for a 20-day locum tenens assignment in New York. This opportunity starts on Jan 2, 2026, with orientation, followed by clinical work beginning Jan 5, 2026. The position features day shifts, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in an outpatient setting. The ideal candidate will have current competence in chemotherapy and biotherapy prescribing and administration, along with recent hands-on experience.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assess, diagnose, monitor, and manage care for patients with all types of cancer and benign or malignant tumors and diseases
  • Prescribe and administer chemotherapy and biotherapy
  • Perform history and physical examinations, including pelvic exams as indicated
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities within documented specialty training
  • Implement therapeutic interventions for specific oncologic and hematologic conditions
  • Perform arterial punctures and blood gas sampling
  • Provide debridement and general care for superficial wounds and minor superficial surgical procedures
  • Perform incision and drainage of superficial abscesses
  • Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
  • Complete protocols for death certificates
  • Remove central venous catheters

Additional Information
  • Active New York NP license required
  • Required board certifications: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGACNP-BC), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGPCNP-BC), Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification (ANP-BC), or Family Nurse Practitioner Certification (FNP)
  • Must hold current ACLS and BCLS certifications
  • Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accreditation required
  • Demonstrated competence in chemotherapy/biotherapy with at least 10 administrations in the past 12 months
