Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner for a 13-week locum tenens assignment in New York. This opportunity begins Jan 2, 2026, with shifts from 7:00 to 19:30, primarily Monday through Friday, totaling 13 shifts per month. The assignment is based in an ambulatory breast medical oncology department, focusing on cancer and tumor care.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage care for patients with cancer and other benign or malignant tumors and diseases
  • Promote health and protection from disease within the scope of practice
  • Perform history and physical exams, including pelvic exams when appropriate
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing and therapeutic modalities specific to specialty training and experience
  • Implement therapeutic interventions for identified conditions
  • Perform arterial punctures and blood gas sampling
  • Provide debridement and general care for superficial wounds and minor surgical procedures
  • Perform incision and drainage of superficial abscesses
  • Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
  • Complete death certificate protocols
  • Remove central venous catheters
  • Demonstrate competence in administering chemotherapy/biotherapy, with at least 10 administrations in the past 12 months

Additional Information
  • Must hold a current NY license
  • Required certifications: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGACNP-BC), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGPCNP-BC), Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification (ANP-BC), or Family Nurse Practitioner Certification (FNP)
  • Additional required certifications: Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Orientation begins Jan 2, 2026; clinical work begins Jan 5, 2026
