Job Description

We are seeking a Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner for a 13-day locum tenens assignment in New York. This opportunity begins with orientation on Jan 2, 2026, and clinical work starting Jan 5, 2026, with 12.5-hour night shifts, working 13 shifts per month. The provider will deliver specialized oncology care, including chemotherapy and biotherapy management, within an Oncology Care Unit.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assess, diagnose, monitor, and manage care for patients with all types of cancer and hematologic conditions
  • Prescribe and administer chemotherapy/biotherapy, demonstrating competence with at least 10 administrations in the past 12 months
  • Perform history and physical exams, including pelvic exams as indicated
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities within documented training and experience
  • Implement therapeutic interventions for specific conditions when appropriate
  • Perform arterial puncture and blood gas sampling
  • Provide debridement and care for superficial wounds and minor surgical procedures
  • Perform incision and drainage of superficial abscesses
  • Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
  • Complete Death Certificate Protocols
  • Remove central venous catheters

Additional Information
  • Active New York nurse practitioner license required
  • Board certifications accepted: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGACNP-BC), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGPCNP-BC), Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification (ANP-BC), Family Nurse Practitioner Certification (FNP)
  • Required certifications: Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Experience with chemotherapy and biotherapy prescribing and administration required
