Responsibilities and Duties
Assess, diagnose, monitor, and manage care for patients with cancer and other benign or malignant tumors and diseases
Promote health and protection from disease in accordance with specialty and within the scope of the supervising physician
Perform history and physical examinations, with or without pelvic exam
Order and interpret diagnostic testing and therapeutic modalities as appropriate to training and specialty
Administer and prescribe chemotherapy/biotherapy (with demonstration of recent competence)
Implement therapeutic interventions for specified conditions
Conduct arterial puncture and blood gas sampling
Provide debridement and general care for superficial wounds and minor superficial surgical procedures
Perform incision and drainage of superficial abscesses
Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
Complete death certificate protocols
Remove central venous catheters
Additional Information
Active New York license required
Required board certifications: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGACNP-BC), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGPCNP-BC), Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification (ANP-BC), or Family Nurse Practitioner Certification (FNP)
Required certifications: Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
Demonstrated current competence in administering at least 10 chemotherapy/biotherapy treatments within the past 12 months
