Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner for a 20-day locum tenens assignment in New York. This position starts on Jan 2, 2026, and follows a Monday through Friday schedule with night shifts from 7:00pm to 7:00am. The assignment is based in an outpatient hematology/oncology practice, offering an opportunity to provide specialized care to patients with cancer and related conditions.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assess, diagnose, monitor, and manage care for patients with cancer and other benign or malignant tumors and diseases
  • Promote health and protection from disease in accordance with specialty and within the scope of the supervising physician
  • Perform history and physical examinations, with or without pelvic exam
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing and therapeutic modalities as appropriate to training and specialty
  • Administer and prescribe chemotherapy/biotherapy (with demonstration of recent competence)
  • Implement therapeutic interventions for specified conditions
  • Conduct arterial puncture and blood gas sampling
  • Provide debridement and general care for superficial wounds and minor superficial surgical procedures
  • Perform incision and drainage of superficial abscesses
  • Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
  • Complete death certificate protocols
  • Remove central venous catheters

Additional Information
  • Active New York license required
  • Required board certifications: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGACNP-BC), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGPCNP-BC), Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification (ANP-BC), or Family Nurse Practitioner Certification (FNP)
  • Required certifications: Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Demonstrated current competence in administering at least 10 chemotherapy/biotherapy treatments within the past 12 months
  • Orientation begins Jan 2, 2026; clinical work commences Jan 5, 2026
