Responsibilities and Duties
Assess, diagnose, monitor, and manage patients with ambulatory hemophilia and related hematology/oncology conditions
Promote health and disease protection within the designated patient age group as specified by specialty and New York State NP certification
Perform history and physical exams, including pelvic exams when indicated
Order and interpret diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities within specialty scope
Implement therapeutic interventions for appropriate conditions
Conduct arterial puncture and blood gas sampling
Provide debridement and general care for superficial wounds and perform minor superficial surgical procedures
Perform incision and drainage of superficial abscesses
Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
Complete Death Certificate Protocols
Remove central venous catheters
Adhere to all unit and facility policies, including care in intensive care settings as permitted
Additional Information
Current New York NP license required
Must hold one of the following board certifications: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGACNP-BC), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGPCNP-BC), Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification (ANP-BC), or Family Nurse Practitioner Certification (FNP)
Required certifications: ARC-PA, ACLS, BCLS
Experience in hematology/oncology and ambulatory hemophilia management strongly preferred
Nurse Practitioners may not serve as admitting providers
