Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner for a 13-day locum tenens assignment in New York. This opportunity begins on Jan 2, 2026, with orientation, followed by clinical work starting Jan 5, 2026. The schedule consists of 13 shifts per month, 7:00am-7:30pm, covering inpatient BMT NP service days.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Provide comprehensive care to patients with cancer and hematologic disorders, including benign and malignant tumors
  • Assess, diagnose, monitor, and manage care under physician supervision
  • Administer chemotherapy and biotherapy, including hematopoietic cell administrations
  • Perform history and physical exams (with or without pelvic exam)
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities
  • Implement therapeutic interventions for specific conditions as appropriate
  • Conduct arterial puncture and blood gas sampling
  • Provide wound care including debridement and minor superficial surgical procedures
  • Perform incision and drainage of superficial abscesses
  • Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
  • Complete death certificate protocols
  • Remove central venous catheters

Additional Information
  • Must demonstrate current competence in chemotherapy/biotherapy administration (at least 10 administrations in the past 12 months)
  • Successful completion of training in hematopoietic cell administration within the past 12 months or documented recent experience
  • Required certifications: Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGACNP-BC), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Certification (AGPCNP-BC), Adult Nurse Practitioner Certification (ANP-BC), Family Nurse Practitioner Certification (FNP)
  • Additional certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • License to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in New York
  • Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) accreditation required
