Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Hematology/Oncology Physician Assistant for a 13-day locum tenens assignment in New York. This opportunity begins with orientation on Jan 2, 2026, followed by clinical work starting Jan 5, 2026, and features 12.5-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday, with the possibility of some weekend shifts to meet the 13-shift monthly minimum. Join our client’s Ambulatory Breast Medical Oncology Department and provide specialized care to patients with all types of cancer and related conditions.

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 07:00-19:30 (13 shifts a month; possible weekend shifts if minimum is met)

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assess, diagnose, monitor, and manage care for patients with benign and malignant tumors and diseases
  • Perform history and physical exams, including pelvic exams as appropriate
  • Order and interpret diagnostic testing and therapeutic modalities, including laboratory tests, imaging, and electrocardiograms
  • Implement therapeutic interventions for specific conditions
  • Perform arterial puncture and blood gas sampling
  • Conduct debridement and general care for superficial wounds and minor superficial surgical procedures
  • Perform incision and drainage of superficial abscesses
  • Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
  • Perform urinary bladder catheterization (short term and indwelling)
  • Conduct venous punctures for blood sampling, cultures, and IV catheterization
  • Complete death certificate protocols
  • Remove arterial catheters, central venous catheters, and chest tubes
  • Perform fine needle aspiration and punch biopsy of skin
  • Demonstrate recent competence in administering chemotherapy/biotherapy, including at least 10 administrations in the past 12 months

Additional Information
  • Current New York license required
  • Must hold Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) certification
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certifications required
