Job Description

We are seeking a Hematology/Oncology Physician Assistant for a 13-day locum tenens assignment in New York. This opportunity starts Jan 2, 2026, with day shifts from 7:00 to 19:30, covering inpatient BMT NP service and chemotherapy/biotherapy administration.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Provide inpatient BMT NP service, including administration of hematopoietic cells
  • Assess, diagnose, monitor, and manage care for patients with cancer and other benign or malignant tumors and diseases
  • Perform history and physical exams
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities relevant to hematology/oncology
  • Implement therapeutic interventions for specific conditions
  • Conduct arterial puncture and blood gas sampling
  • Debride and provide care for superficial wounds and minor surgical procedures
  • Perform incision and drainage of superficial abscesses
  • Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
  • Complete death certificate protocols
  • Remove arterial and central venous catheters, as well as chest tubes
  • Perform urinary bladder catheterization and venous punctures
  • Conduct fine needle aspiration and punch biopsy of skin

Additional Information
  • Valid New York licensure required
  • Must demonstrate recent experience with at least 10 administrations of chemotherapy/biotherapy in the past 12 months
  • Successful completion of relevant training in hematopoietic cell administration within the past 12 months, or current competence with at least 3 administrations in the last 12 months
  • Required certifications: Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
