Job Description

We are seeking a Hematology/Oncology Physician Assistant for a 16-day locum tenens assignment in New York. Starting Jan 2, 2026, this role offers a Monday–Friday schedule with four shifts per week, 8:00am–6:00pm. The position focuses on ambulatory therapeutic infusion and requires recent chemotherapy and biotherapy administration experience.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Assess, diagnose, monitor, and manage patients within hematology and oncology scope, under physician supervision
  • Perform arterial puncture and blood gas sampling
  • Conduct debridement and provide care for superficial wounds and minor superficial surgical procedures
  • Implement therapeutic interventions for specific conditions as appropriate
  • Insert and remove non-weighted nasogastric or oro-gastric tubes
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests and therapeutic modalities, including laboratory tests, medications, hemodynamic monitoring, IV fluids, EMG, electrocardiogram, and radiologic studies (ultrasound, CT, MRI, bone scan)
  • Perform incision and drainage of superficial abscesses
  • Perform urinary bladder catheterization (short term and indwelling)
  • Perform venous punctures for blood sampling, cultures, and IV catheterization
  • Provide ambulatory therapeutic infusion, including chemotherapy and biotherapy prescribing and administration

Additional Information
  • Must hold current NY license as a Physician Assistant
  • Required certifications: Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Demonstrate recent competence with at least 10 administrations of chemotherapy/biotherapy in the past 12 months
