Job Description

We are actively seeking a dedicated Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner for a 98-day locum tenens assignment in Illinois, starting Jul 1, 2025. This role involves a 7 on/7 off schedule, primarily night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM, providing support in a hospital setting with both a regular and a behavioral health unit. The successful candidate will manage an average of 10 acute patients per day, with patient counts ranging between 15 and 30. Proficiency with the Epic EMR system is required.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Work alongside physician hospitalists to provide comprehensive medical care
• Perform medical clearance and medication reconciliation for patients in the behavioral health unit, excluding psychiatric medications
• Manage daily patient loads averaging 10, with the possibility of reaching up to 12 acute cases
• Ensure proper patient transfer protocols are followed for those needing specialized care
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using the Epic EMR system
• Adapt to fluctuating daily patient census efficiently

Additional Information

• Must be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in Illinois
• Recent experience in hospitalist roles or similar acute care settings is essential
