Job Description

We are seeking a Neonatology Nurse Practitioner for a 60-day locum tenens assignment in Virginia. This opportunity begins on Jan 5, 2026, and features 24-hour in-house shifts supporting a NICU. The ideal candidate is clinically active and experienced within neonatology, ready to contribute to a high-acuity care environment.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide advanced clinical care within a NICU
  • Manage NICU and newborn average daily census of 20, with approximately 1,700 annual deliveries
  • Oversee newborn admissions, with a 95 percent admit rate
  • Administer advanced therapies including high-frequency oscillatory ventilation (HFOV), high-frequency jet ventilation (HFJV), inhaled nitric oxide, and therapeutic hypothermia
  • Support pediatric surgical procedures (excluding cardiac surgery except PDA ligations; no ECMO)
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Maintain thorough documentation and adherence to all clinical protocols


Additional Information

  • Current APRN national specialty certification required
  • Active Virginia license required
  • Minimum of a master's degree required
  • At least six months of recent clinical experience in neonatology required
  • Must have been clinically active within the past year
  • Completion of prescreen questionnaire and CV in MM/YYYY format (with all gaps explained) required
  • Required board certification: Neonatology
