Job Description

We are seeking a Neurological Surgery Nurse Practitioner for an 84-day assignment in New Mexico, starting Jul 27, 2026. This role involves 12-hour shifts from 6 AM to 6 PM, primarily focusing on adult patients with occasional pediatric cases. Responsibilities include assessing and coordinating care for head and spine traumas, managing chronic cerebral and spinal conditions, responding to trauma calls, and providing post-operative monitoring and medical management for neurosurgical patients.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assess, coordinate care, and staff with on-call attending surgeons for head traumas, chronic cerebral anomalies, and on alternating weeks, spine trauma and chronic conditions.
  • Respond to trauma calls likely to involve brain or spinal trauma.
  • Provide post-operative monitoring and management of neurosurgical patients and devices (e.g., EVD, Irraflow, Lumbar drains) in both ICU and medical floor settings.
  • Manage nighttime medical care for one of the subacute trauma teams, including emergent management of declining patients pending elevation to ICU care.
  • See mainly adult patients with occasional pediatric patients.
