Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Neurological Surgery Physician Assistant for an exciting 84-day locum tenens assignment in New Mexico. This role, starting Jul 27, 2026, involves 6a-6p shifts where you will care for mainly adult patients, with occasional pediatric cases. Your responsibilities will include assessing and coordinating care for head traumas and chronic cerebral anomalies, managing spine trauma, and providing comprehensive post-operative monitoring for neurosurgical patients.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • See adult and occasional pediatric patients.
  • Assess, coordinate care, and staff with on-call attending surgeon all head traumas and chronic cerebral anomalies.
  • Manage spine trauma and chronic conditions on alternating weeks.
  • Respond to trauma calls when likely to involve brain or spinal trauma.
  • Provide post-operative monitoring and management of neurosurgical patients and devices (e.g., EVD, Irraflow, Lumbar drains) in both the ICU and on the medical floor.
  • Deliver nighttime medical management for subacute trauma teams, including emergent care for declining patients.
