Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Medicine Nurse Practitioner for a locum tenens assignment in Kansas. This two-day opportunity begins on Dec 11, 2025, and features day shifts from 7:00am to 5:00pm. The role involves conducting NFPA 1582 physicals and clinical testing for firefighters, including EKG interpretation, respirator clearances, and reviewing diagnostic studies.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Conduct NFPA 1582 physicals for firefighters
  • Perform respirator clearance and interim firefighter clearances
  • Review and interpret EKGs, ultrasounds, and stress tests
  • Complete clinical testing including hearing, vision, laboratory studies, pulmonary function, cardiograms, and x-rays
  • Perform mandatory hernia exams; rectal exams are optional
  • Work collaboratively with the PHS team to ensure thorough and efficient clinical testing


Additional Information

  • Firefighter physical or occupational medicine experience strongly preferred
  • Must hold current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Must have Kansas state licensure
  • Family Nurse Practitioner Certification (FNP) required
  • Ability to efficiently manage high patient volume with exams every 15-20 minutes
