Responsibilities and Duties
Conduct routine eye exams and charting for patients in nursing home settings
Diagnose and treat ocular diseases
Prescribe, fit, and adjust eyeglasses as needed
Advise patients, families, and facilities on appropriate follow-up care
Refer patients for specialized care when necessary
Prescribe antibiotics as required (no other prescribing required)
Travel within a 1.5-hour radius to multiple care centers, with daily driving up to one hour between locations
Additional Information
Virginia optometry license required
Must be registered with or eligible for Medicare and Medicaid
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Preference for candidates with nursing home and geriatric care experience
Flexible schedule; can start as soon as credentialed
