We are seeking an Optometrist for a locum tenens assignment in Virginia, starting Dec 1, 2025. This role spans 24 days, offering a flexible schedule of 8 days per month with 8:30 am to 2 pm shifts. The ideal candidate has experience in nursing home and geriatric care and is comfortable providing routine eye care across multiple facilities.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Conduct routine eye exams and charting for patients in nursing home settings
  • Diagnose and treat ocular diseases
  • Prescribe, fit, and adjust eyeglasses as needed
  • Advise patients, families, and facilities on appropriate follow-up care
  • Refer patients for specialized care when necessary
  • Prescribe antibiotics as required (no other prescribing required)
  • Travel within a 1.5-hour radius to multiple care centers, with daily driving up to one hour between locations

Additional Information
  • Virginia optometry license required
  • Must be registered with or eligible for Medicare and Medicaid
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Preference for candidates with nursing home and geriatric care experience
  • Flexible schedule; can start as soon as credentialed
