Locum Tenens Physician Assistant - Orthopedics Needed in OR

Job Description

Our client in Oregon is seeking a dedicated Orthopedics Physician Assistant for a 60-day assignment starting May 18, 2026. This role involves comprehensive orthopedic evaluation and management in both clinic and inpatient settings, conducting thorough patient assessments, and actively assisting orthopedic surgeons in the operating room during standard 8 AM to 5 PM shifts.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Provide orthopedic evaluation and management in clinic and inpatient settings
• Conduct patient histories, physical exams, and orthopedic assessments
• Order and interpret imaging (X-ray, CT, MRI) and diagnostic tests
• Assist orthopedic surgeons in the operating room
• Perform bedside procedures and fracture care
• Manage post-operative rounding and follow-up care
• Develop treatment plans including bracing, splinting, injections, and therapy referrals
• Provide patient education on recovery, rehabilitation, and injury prevention
• Participate in call rotation for orthopedic consults and urgent cases
• Coordinate care with surgeons, nursing staff, PT/OT, and hospital teams

• Fracture reductions and splinting
• Joint injections and aspirations (knee, shoulder, hip)
• Wound care and staple/suture removal
• Casting and cast changes
• Closed reductions and immobilization
• Assist in OR for orthopedic cases including total joint replacements, arthroscopic procedures, fracture fixation (ORIF), and tendon or ligament repair
