We are seeking an experienced Orthopedic Surgeon for a 60-day locum tenens assignment in California, starting Dec 29, 2025. This opportunity involves 24-hour call coverage at a hospital with a trauma designation, including general orthopedic procedures, ER consults, and limited clinic follow-ups on weekday mornings. The role is designed for a board-certified specialist comfortable managing a diverse range of orthopedic cases in a dynamic hospital environment.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide 24-hour orthopedic surgery call coverage for emergency room consults and general orthopedic procedures
  • Manage all general orthopedic cases appropriate for a trauma facility; severe trauma cases are transferred to higher-level centers
  • Conduct follow-up clinic visits for patients managed during call shifts (no clinic coverage for other surgeons’ patients)
  • Collaborate with hospital staff to deliver coordinated patient care
  • Maintain clear and accurate medical documentation
  • Adhere to all hospital protocols and safety standards


Additional Information

  • Active California medical license required
  • Board certification in Orthopaedic Surgery required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Fluoroscopy Certification required
  • Must be comfortable with both inpatient and limited outpatient responsibilities
