 Barton Associates is seeking an experienced Pathologist for a flexible locum tenens position at a Hospital in Connecticut. This opportunity offers coverage starting 08/04/2025, for an initial contract of 40 days, with the potential for extension. The assignment involves working 1-2 weeks per month, from 8 AM to 5 PM, with a minimum commitment of one week per month. The ideal candidate will focus on surgical pathology, signing out 30-35 small biopsies and approximately 5 benign resections daily. Responsibilities include interpreting pathology specimens, providing diagnoses, and collaborating with the permanent staff who handle malignant resections and frozen sections. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a skilled Pathologist to contribute their expertise in a dynamic healthcare setting while enjoying the flexibility of locum tenens work.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform surgical pathology examinations and diagnoses
  • Sign out 30-35 small biopsies per day
  • Evaluate approximately 5 benign resections daily
  • Interpret pathology specimens and provide accurate diagnoses
  • Collaborate with permanent staff on complex cases
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records using Epic EHR system
  • Ensure high-quality patient care and diagnostic accuracy
  • Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures
  • Participate in any necessary staff meetings or consultations
  • Communicate findings effectively with clinical teams
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in pathology


Additional Information:

  • Must be licensed to practice medicine in Connecticut
  • Board certification in Anatomic Pathology required
  • Experience in surgical pathology essential
  • Familiarity with Epic EHR system is advantageous
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently
