Job Description

 We are seeking a skilled Pediatric Hospitalist for a locum tenens position in California. This 60-day assignment, starting in September, requires coverage for 3-10 shifts per month, ranging from long weekends to 10-day stretches. The role involves rounding from 8:30 AM to 10:30/11:00 AM, followed by 24-hour out-of-house call. The ideal candidate will have strong delivery room skills, NRP certification, airway management expertise, and the ability to handle emergency umbilical lines in L&D and NICU. This position is crucial for managing a robust nursery in a rural area, with occasional case stabilization for transport.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage a nursery with potential case stabilization
  • Attend high-risk deliveries (2-3 in a week stretch)
  • Provide care for normal newborns and admit uncomplicated, stable pediatric patients
  • Handle bread-and-butter pediatric cases such as dehydration, pneumonia, and asthma
  • Manage high-risk newborns, including growing premies and those needing respiratory support
  • Stabilize and manage neonates for transport to higher-level facilities
  • Serve as the primary pediatric consultant for the facility
  • Utilize Epic electronic health record system


Additional Information:

  • Must be comfortable working in a rural setting with limited subspecialty support
  • Experience with emergency umbilical lines in L&D and NICU required
  • NRP certification is essential
  • California medical license is required
