Job Description

We are seeking a board-certified Pediatric Surgeon for a 200-day locum tenens assignment in Arizona, starting Feb 12, 2026. This hospital-based opportunity involves providing patient care exclusively in a hospital setting, with shifts and patient contact hours yet to be determined. The assignment is ideal for a pediatric surgery specialist with advanced certifications and experience in a wide range of surgical procedures, including neonatal and trauma cases.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform pediatric and neonatal surgeries, including laparoscopic procedures (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernioplasty, Nissen fundoplication)
  • Conduct head and neck surgeries, including thyroid procedures
  • Manage chest wall and pleural cases
  • Perform breast surgery and gastrointestinal endoscopy (upper and lower)
  • Conduct minor orthopedic and hand surgeries
  • Manage ventilation, chest tube insertion, central line insertion, PA catheter placement, and vascular access
  • Perform laser procedures
  • Conduct vascular surgeries, including aneurysm repairs (thoracic and abdominal), arterial bypass, peripheral procedures, vascular access devices, and AV shunt placement
  • Manage pediatric-specific cases such as artesias (esophageal, intestinal, biliary), abdominal wall defects (gastroschisis), umbilical defects (hernia, omphalocele), diaphragmatic hernia, imperforate anus, and PDA ligation
  • Provide trauma care (trauma experience preferred)


Additional Information

  • Board certification in Pediatric Surgery required
  • Must be licensed in Arizona
  • Fellowship in Pediatric Surgery required
  • Required certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS), Laser Certification
  • Pediatric facility
