Responsibilities and Duties
Maintain overall clinical responsibility for mental health programs within the facility
Oversee completion of mental health screenings and evaluations
Perform sick call visits and chronic care visits
Conduct rounds in all units
Formulate working diagnoses, develop and implement treatment plans, and evaluate or modify therapeutic regimens to promote positive outcomes
Coordinate, lead, and participate in educational training activities related to mental health care
Provide medication management, therapy, and other evidence-based treatment plans to address mental health needs
Respond to acute mental health crises within the facility
Support rehabilitation of patients and facilitate successful transitions back into the community
Ensure compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standards
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including correctional staff, psychologists, social workers, and other medical professionals to develop and implement treatment plans and ensure staff responsiveness to patient needs
Additional Information
Active California medical license required
Board certification in Psychiatry required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Corrections experience preferred, but not required
Must be able to travel to different jails within the county
Background check clearance required prior to start
Experience with TechCare EMR preferred
